Michelle, you might be interested that in the German original version of the frog prince fairytale by the Brothers Grimm, the frog is not kissed to become a human being. In fact, the princess gets so furious about the disgusting frog that she throws him against a wall “with all her might” – and falling down, the frog changes its shape. This detail was somehow changed in some translations into English. A quite precise translation you can find here https://sites.pitt.edu/~dash/grimm001.html – In regards of a possible spiritual interpretation, I find this detail important: the princess (the soul) has to deal with an entity from the depth (the unconscious), tries as long as possible to avoid it, and only when her energy explodes, transformation sets in. Sometimes it isn’t enough to be kind and to kiss, but it is necessary to destroy the status quo to achieve growth and happiness. (Just one aspect of this multi-layered fairy tale.) – Thank you for your inspiring postings!
